Why Pilates at The Octagon?
Pilates is a mind-body exercise method developed in the early 20th Century by German physical trainer Joseph Pilates. Pilates puts emphasis on alignment, developing a strong core, improving coordination and balance and there is a substantial body of evidence showing it is beneficial for many, varied conditions.
Our private Pilates sessions are tailored to the individual, essential to address injury, chronic pain or physical limitations. We always start with a movement assessment to identify where instability, restriction and compensatory patterns exist in your body. Alongside corrective exercise sequences, we guide you in somatic awareness- a deep felt sense of the body in space. Often the missing piece of the puzzle when dealing with dysfunction and pain is the correct and precise engagement of the brain. Using studio equipment, hands-on and verbal cues the brain receives more information to challenge the body to facilitate the creation of lasting change.
One-to-one Pilates at the Octagon is more than a exercise session. You will release tension, build strength, increase mobility and become more resilient whilst cultivating life-long skills to help you improve your health and body wisdom.
